Wow, where to start!

Wednesday, we got to Comic Con early enough to get into the line with 1933818747 other people. Us being the 1933838744th to the 1933838747th, of course. Due to some seriously fucked up line building - lack of any direction whatsoever - we managed to skip about 3/4th of those people and make it through registration in about 15 minutes. Sometimes you just gotta take what life throws at ya, you know? In this case, it worked out to our advantage. Hey, it usually doesn't, after all.

So we had planned to take in the Fringe screening that night, but with all the people already there and in line, we sort of skipped that part. Instead, we wandered through the exhibit hall for a while. That was pretty much a madhouse, since it was the only thing (besides the screenings) which was open that night. Wednesday was only early registration, after all. After being crushed and pushed and pummeled for about half an hour (and seeing two people get kicked out - omg, kicked out before the con starts, how much of a bummer would that be?) we just headed back to the hotel for supper and an early night.

Thursday, however, was the first Big Day.

Doctor Who and Torchwood panels to follow Stan Lee's first panel of the con, how cool is that? Russel T Davies couldn't make the con, which was a little disappointing. But since he was 'chained to his desk writing Torchwood', I can accept it. All I can really say is that Steve Moffit and Julie Gardner were very funny, interesting to listen to. But of course it was John Barrowman at the Torchwood panel who stole the show. He's Captain Jack, only way, way more so. He and Gareth David-Lloyd were just hysterical, and of course Naoko Mori was just wonderful. Burn Gorman also didn't make it, though no explanation. Having John and Naoko sing a duet that they did together in Miss Saigon was way, way more than enough to make up for that, however.

Other highlights of DW/TW - it was confirmed that Jack is indeed the Face of Boe. He freaked out when he found out... it was funny to hear him talk about that. Also - There is a lot of Ianto in Jack, according to Gareth. *g*

I honest to god don't remember what we did for the rest of the day. It's all a blur. A tired, sloppy, body-aching blur. I do know I enjoyed every minute of it, though. There was lunch... lunch? Maybe dinner. At a nifty Irish pub. Then there was more walking, and a lot of sitting by me, since my knee is just wrecked. But it gave [livejournal.com profile] halfacork and [livejournal.com profile] nyagosstar a chance to hang out without me tagging along, too, so it worked out.

We did go to the Star Wars Fan Film awards that night, which was entertaining, and to the Lost Boys: The Tribe premiere - which was... um. Well, save your money. S'all I'm saying. It was cool to see Corey Feldman though... even if I thought that him answering questions afterward 'in character' (Edgar Frog) was a bit of a cop-out. What a great way to avoid answering any questions he didn't want to answer. :P

Yesterday was Stargate. And more Stargate. Damn near the entire cast of SG1 showed up for their panel. Richard Dean Anderson is ... well. He's Colonel O'Neal. And tells a great frozen poop story (to the chagrin of his castmates), I'll tell you. Was so awesome to see them all (almost all - no Claudia Black, and RIP Don S Davis) together again. And the clip tribute they did for Don Davis made me cry. Damn them.

They premiered Continuum on board an aircraft carrier (I can't remember the name of it, dammit!) the night before, and all seemed excited about that. Richard wasn't allowed to drive the nuclear submarine when they filmed aboard it for Continuum. He was bummed about that.

For Atlantis, Jewel Staite (she only got called Kaylee once), Robert Picardo, and Joe Flanigan were present. I honestly had no idea that Robert Picardo was such a funny, funny guy. All his characters are always such serious, dour people (uh, holograms), that it was almost a little jarring (in a good way) that he was so incredibly humorous. Joe was adorable, hair and all. And it turns out that Jason Momoa is the prankster of that group. I don't know why I was surprised by that, but I was.

Only other thing I really remember thinking during that panel was that Robert really didn't seem fond of his time on Voyager. Would LOVE to hear some stories about that. *g*

Due to timing, I didn't get over to the Watchmen panel - JDM was there, from what I hear. Sorry, Silvia! :(

I wandered a bit by myself after the panels, making my way back down to the exhibit hall to see if I could find Sherrilyn Kenyon. I had just missed her, she was making her way up to sign autographs, so I headed that way myself. She was just the sweetest, most wonderful person. She spent time talking personally with everyone. She actually invited me up to Birmingham to her next signing, when she found out I was from Alabama. I'm sure she does that with everyone, but it really was just a little thing that meant a lot. She was giving out a free copy of one of her books to be signed... That's not something every author does, either, and with the following she has? It's not something she *needs* to do, either, for the publicity.

It took longer than I thought to stand in line - only about 30 people ahead of me, but like I said, she took time to talk to everyone for a few minutes - and by the time I was done, an hour had passed. I made my way back to the group, met [livejournal.com profile] mimesere and her friend, and we all headed off to supper. Afterwards, there was nothing I wanted to see that I was actually going to get into (the next couple panels we'd planned for were packed over an hour before they started), so I headed back to the hotel for an early night while the others caught a few more panels that I was really just oblivious to. I wouldn't have known what was going on, so I figured I'd let someone who did have my seat. *g*

I actually got back in time to catch the new ep of SGA, the 2nd to last ep of Doctor Who, and get to sleep early.

And... here it is, Saturday! Heroes panel this morning, if we manage seats. Have my fingers crossed!

:D :D :D

It's been a good time. Am so incredibly tired though!

And oh yes. John says "There's a lot of me in Jack." Then Gareth pipes up "There's a lot of Ianto, too." John just completely lost it. It was brilliant! I have youtube links, I just haven't had a chance to actually post yet. Shall do that after I do the post for Saturday and Sunday. :D

Home tomorrow... Long flight is long.
